Frequently Asked Questions.
Before you Movere-Move
Q: When is the best time to move?
A: The busiest times for moving companies are the summer time, weekends, and end of the month. So you are more likely to get a good price, on time arrival, well rested crew during the Fall/Winter, during the week (Monday -Thursday) and in the middle of the month.
Q: How do I select a good Mover?
A: Ask your Friends, neighbors, co-workers and family members for recommendations. Investigate movers with the BBB of Southeast Texas and the Texas Dept. of Motor Vehicles to make sure your mover is legally registered to conduct moves in Texas.
Q: What time will my move start?
A: Normally, the Crew arrives at our office at 8:00 A.M. Jobs are assigned, and trucks are checked for proper equipment and fuel. Depending on where you are located, allow 30 minutes to an hour for the crew to safely get to your location. This may vary depending on road conditions, weather and other factors. Please call the office if you have any concerns. Keep in mind that your time doesn't start til we get to your location. ( Some movers start your time from their office)
Pricing & Paperwork
Q: How do you charge for moving services?
A: We have two basic way that we charge for moving services. One is Hourly Plus Mileage and the other way is a Guaranteed Flat Rate Price. It's up to you which one to choose.
Q: Do you charge for Estimates?
A: No, All Estimates are Free of charge whether in person, on the phone or by Online Estimate.
Q: How should I pay for my move?
A: Payments can be made by cash, money order, credit or debit card. We don't ask for any money upfront on local moves. You should be leery of any mover who does! A 50% deposit is required on any move outside of Southeast Texas. You only pay when the job is complete and you are completely satisfied.
Q: When does my time start?
A: Your time starts when we pull up to your home and stops when the last piece is in place and set up. You don't pay for drive time from our office ( some movers do charge drive time).
Packing
Q: Can I pack items into the drawers of my dressers?
A: All loose items should be packed in boxes to prevent loss or damage. You can leave clothes in the dresser unless you are moving up or down stairs..
Q: Will the movers load all the boxes that I pack?
A: Yes, as long as the mover deems them safe for moving and they are sealed and labeled.
Q: Can you move my plants?
A: Yes, as long as the mover deems them safe for moving. Please do not water them 2-3 days before your move, otherwise they might be too heavy or messy to safely move.
Q: What about my jewelry and other expensive items?
A: Because of insurance restrictions, you should move all jewelry and expensive small items yourself. Anything that you would normally keep in a safe should be moved and properly secured. I recommend a safety deposit box at your bank. Also, guns and ammunition can not be moved.
